Shou Sugi Ban
(Blackening with fire)
The traditional Japanese practice of Shou Sugi Ban dates back to the early 1700’s.
The process involves charring wood with fire to provide a beautiful and long lasting finish.
The amazing thing about carving is that I am never limited to a piece of wood but only to one’s imagination. Whether it is my own design or one the purchaser envisions, I personally handcraft each item myself from Canadian sustainably sourced wood allowing attention to detail and ensuring that each end product is unique to the person that owns it.
